Currently, medical appointments are available only at the Islamabad office.

As part of the U.S. immigrant visa process, all applicants—regardless of age—are required to undergo a medical examination conducted by a physician accredited by the U.S. Embassy. The examination must take place prior to the visa interview.

Please note: Medical examination results from non-accredited physicians are not accepted. It is the applicant’s responsibility to schedule an appointment with an IOM - designated panel physician well in advance of the interview.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

Effective October 1, 2021, all applicants scheduled for a medical examination must have completed the full COVID-19 vaccination series prior to the appointment.

  • Only vaccines authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) for emergency use, or those licensed/authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), are acceptable.
  • Applicants are required to present a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate on the day of the appointment.
  • The medical examination will not proceed without this documentation.
Exemptions
  • Children or youth who are exempt from the COVID-19 vaccine under National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) guidance.
  • Applicants with medical contraindications must submit comprehensive medical records supporting the exemption.
What to Bring to Your Appointment

Please bring the following documents/items with you to your medical examination:

  • Your U.S. visa interview letter.
  • Your valid passport.
  • Six (6) recent passport-sized color photographs.
  • Copy of immunization/vaccination records.
  • Medical records for any prior or ongoing illnesses, surgeries, or treatments.
  • DS-260 confirmation page.
  • Valid COVID-19 immunization certificate.
Medical Examination Procedures

The medical exam includes:

  • Review of medical history.
  • Physical examination.
  • Chest X-ray and blood tests (applicants aged 15 and above).
  • Tuberculosis (TB) screening for applicants aged 2 years and older.

Please be prepared to share accurate details regarding your medical history, current treatments, and any medications you are taking.

Additional information on U.S. immigrant medical requirements is available at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Vaccination requirements for U.S. immigration are listed on the CDC website. You may also refer to Travel State Gov for Frequently Asked Questions on medical requirements.

After the Medical Examination

Once your exam is completed, the panel physician will either:

  • Provide you with a sealed envelope containing your results, or
  • Electronically submit the results directly to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

If given a sealed envelope, do not open it. Bring it unopened to your visa interview.

Additionally:
  • You will receive a copy of your chest X-ray. While not required for the interview (unless TB is diagnosed), you must carry it with you when traveling to the United States.
  • The medical report must be less than six (6) months old on the date you enter the United States as an immigrant.
Medical Service Fees

Fees for the medical examination and associated tests vary depending on the applicant’s age and health requirements.
